Ambulance Service

Trust Medical operate a 24/7 365 day national ambulance fleet supporting NHS hospital services, private clients and the healthcare industry. From our strategically placed head office in Lancashire and stations in Manchester, Yorkshire and the Midlands we offer a key support service in patient care. This is a rapidly expanding service offering national coverage through developing partnerships across the country in order to support NHS Hospital and Ambulance Service trusts with extra PTS and Non-Emergency Admissions capacity.

Patient Transport Services

Our Ambulance Care Assistants (ACAs) work with ambulance service trusts, hospitals, private clients and local authorities in transferring patients. Trained and qualified in order to fully support disabled, elderly and vulnerable people our experienced team offer vital care and comfort to those travelling to and from outpatient clinics, day-care centres, to and from routine hospital admissions, care homes, specialist treatment centres and places of residence.

Working as part of a two-person team using a specially designed ambulance with a tail-lift/ramp for stretcher, wheelchair and pedestrian access, ACAs may transfer numerous people on a journey.

Our ACAs undergo mandatory training to provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deal with many conditions, situations and restrictions in a persons mobility to make sure that the patients they are transporting are safe, comfortable and cared for during the journey. All our ACA's training includes Basic Life Saving and Emergency Care.

Bariatric Service

Trust Medical offer a Bariatric Service for the safe, comfortable, dignified and efficient transfer of patients that require additional resources. Our specifically trained personnel are experienced in the care and transportation of larger patients using our specially designed Ambulances and bariatric equipment catering for patients weighing up to 318 kg (50 stone). On-Board equipment levels are similar to a front line emergency ambulance with the addition of a Bariatric stretcher, lifting equipment, winch, carry chair, lifting cushions and other specialist apparatus.

A comprehensive risk assessment is conducted prior to the transfer to ensure the appropriate resources and crew members are deployed. Should there be a need for additional resources to gain entry or access to a facility, home or residence, we can provide this service and make good any alterations/adaptions if necessary.

 Mental Health Transport

The transfer of mental health patients is a specialist area of healthcare support and as such the service offered to both clients and service users must be first class. Trust Medical has extensive experience in this area of patient transport. We can offer safe, reliable transport with fully trained, sensitive and thoughtful staff. Our service can provide driver and vehicle only or a fully crewed vehicle and a return to home location service for a client's support staff or nursing escorts.

Palliative Care & End of Life

Palliative medicine is appropriate for patients in all disease stages, including those undergoing treatment for curable illnesses and those living with chronic diseases, as well as patients who are nearing the end of their life. Palliative medicine utilises a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, relying on input from physicians, pharmacists, nurses, chaplains, social workers, psychologists and other allied health professionals.

There is no greater a need to have experienced, trained personnel who understand the explicit care and welfare needs of patients who are receiving palliative treatment or are reaching the end of their life and who need to be transferred to or from hospital, home or residence in a caring, dignified and thoughtful manner. Trust Medical offers a sensitive and caring service to patients of this nature.

Specialist School Escort Service

Trust Medical is assigned the highly important task of both escorting and transporting a number of children and young people with often life-threatening conditions and severe disabilities to special schools on a daily basis. Our Schools Escort Service will either provide a fully qualified and experienced care assistant to travel on another provider’s transport or we can provide both transport and escorts. A full risk assessment is undertaken prior to transport and extensive patient notes are kept together with a transfer log for each journey. We are pleased to offer this service to help ensure that children and young people have access to the education services, as is their right.

Emergency Ambulance

Trust Medical operate a number of  front line emergency ambulances in order to support our event medical cover service and provide immediate out of hospital medical care to the patient. We also operate a GP non-emergency but urgent admission service using front line vehicles. Our emergency vehicles are also tasked with providing airside support when patients returning to the UK by Air Ambulance services need ongoing rapid transport with continual monitoring or treatment.

Rapid Response Vehicles

We operate a number of Rapid Response Vehicles which can help us use our resources on a client’s behalf more efficiently.  Often used in support of our event medical cover work, sending these smaller vehicles to the scene of an emergency call is often the preferred option to sending a larger vehicle which may have problems accessing the incident quickly. Such vehicles can also provide first aid assistance for patients who do not require hospital treatment and can be treated at the scene by the crew on site and transported quickly back to a central first aid area.

Trust Medical also deploy our RRV’s in support of our Blue Light Rapid Transit Blood and Organ Service where time is a crucial element of the transfer.

4 x 4 All Access Emergency Ambulance

Offering a crucial service in areas where access is restricted for conventional ambulances, our 4 x 4 ambulance can be deployed to aid patients who need urgent medical care. In times of severe weather and in areas where snow and ice is often a problem our vehicle has been used to both transport patients and take medical staff to incidents. It has also been highly effective in the area of equestrian events where riders have been injured in countryside locations where a normal ambulance would find it almost impossible to reach. Offering this service means that medical assistance can reach a casualty in those vital first few minutes.
